TAKE A SIP: GRAPEFRUIT SIPPER

See, when I posted my last drink recipe on this here blog I figured it would be the last uber-fruity drink I'd post for a while, since Fall was here.

Welp.
It was 80 degrees this weekend, and to me, that just ain't hot cider weather.
Hence this recipe for a super easy grapefruit sipper!

What you need to make it happen:
- Fresh Squeezed red grapefruit juice (of course store bought works too!)
- 1 1/2 ounces vodka (I used Svedka)
- 1/2 ounce triple sec
- Splash lemon juice
- Mint for garnish

How to make it happen:
Step 1: Combine all ingredients.
Step 2: Pour over ice & garnish.
Step 3; Enjoy!

Anyone else having unseasonably warm weather in their area?
Thanks Wisconsin, for being so gorgeous!

CANDY CORN SEASON

Happy Monday you wonderful people!

Hope you all had a stellar weekend. It was crazy hot here- 80 degrees - perfect for Badger Gameday tailgating...and then hiding inside Sunday to watch the Packers game!

Here's what's been good lately:

Oy. Last week was... a week. It was one of those weeks that meant kicking off your shoes and going RIGHT out to the balcony with some wine. Ya feel me?

Like I said - this weekend was a great weekend for tailgating for the Badger game- and I got to bust out my favorite DIY Badger shoes from a trip to the Rose Bowl a few years ago:

YOU GUYS IT'S CANDY CORN SEASON!
Yessssssssssss.

Tomorrow's recipe is tart & sweet and great for weekends that happen to be 80 degrees (in fall!):

Also later this week: Fall's Must-Have handbags!

What was good about your weekend, my friends?
Shoutout to any other Packers fans out there!!!

best tips: how to de-stinkify your summer shoes!

Alright people, it's time to get real.
Summer is ending, and if you're like me- you're still probably wearing your flats until the snow flies.
Also if you're like me- after wearing those babies all through hot summer days...they probably don't smell great. Never fear, some de-stinkifying tips are here!
Oh I know, it'd be so much more glamorous if I just did another blog post about flowers or handbags or something- but, well, I'm sure you guys read plenty of those every week, right?
So here's the deal:
Unless you never walk/move in the summer heat, I KNOW you know what I'm talking about.
I tried a few at-home techniques I've heard about, and here are the results!
THE DRYER SHEETS:
I'm not going to lie- this probably worked the best...but it also meant I walked around self conscious that my feet smelled like a fresh load of laundry! Overall, this method definitely worked the best, as long as you're cool with a fresh-out-of-the-dryer scent.

THE BAKING SODA:
I mean, we all have a box in our fridge to eliminate odors, right? I sprinkled a bunch into some flats and I have to say- the next morning- serious improvement. I tried it again in another pair, leaving the baking soda in for 3 days- and they were fully de-stinkified! I mean, I'm sure you don't want to throw white powder in any super expensive flats- but for your cheap gap/target/old navy guys? This'll do the trick!

THE TEA BAGS:
I had heard these pulled out odors from...somewhere? I dunno, the internet is too big of a place to remember these crucial details. Anyway, The teabags: I left them in there for 3 days- and NOTHIN'. No help. Still as stinky as ever. Wompp-womppp. Verdict; This method is a no-go.

So there you have it:
three-er-two ways to use products you have laying around the house to make your shoes smell better!

Do you have any at home remedies you can share?
I'd love to test them out!

TAKE A SIP: CLASSIC STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI

Alright, the "last hurrah of summer" continues!

Today's recipe isn't one of my out-there, random, themed recipes- it's just a good old classic Strawberry Daiquiri.

- ice

How to make it happen:
 - Blend ice, rum, triple sec, strawberries, and lime juice

(I know, soooo difficult, right?)

So there you have it, One last hurrah for summer drink!

What drink would you sip on to say goodbye to summer?

LAST HURRAH OF SUMMER

Happy Monday, friends!

Fall is officially coming into the Midwest - so I figured I'd dedicate this week on the blog to one last hurrah for summer.
I'm guessing this will be the last week with 70 degree temps, so might as well enjoy it while it's here, right?
----

Here's what's good lately:

Can't. Get. This. Song. Out. Of. My. Head.

To squeeze the last bit of nice weather out, Michael and I went camping & canoeing.
The 2 am wakeup to 35 degree weather was a little unfortunate, but during the day?
You just can't beat this view:

Channeling warmer weather through this Madewell pouch:

....And these necklaces! Left or right??

Later this week: One LAAAST summer drink recipe. It's a classic crowd pleaser!

ALSO Later this week: How to De-Stink-ify your Summer Shoes (yes, really!)

Alright, now that I'm done being all over the place,

How are you holding onto summer still?
Bonus points if it's with Madewell clutches, like me.

TAKE A BITE: SUMMER GUMMI BEAR MINI CUPCAKES

Labor Day has come and gone, but I'm just going to hold onto summer for fewww weeks longer.

These cupcakes scream SUMMER...er...END OF SUMMER!
So- if you're having a "I'm not ready for fall to come yet" party, be sure to make these sweet gummi cupcakes!
Just your average gummi bears chillin' in gummi tubes.
What you'll need to make it happen:
- Gummi Bears
- Lifesaver Gummies
-  White Cupcake Mix OR Recipe
- Vanilla Frosting
- Blue Food Coloring

How to Make it Happen:
Step 1: Bake your cupcakes!
Step 2: Color your frosting blue & frost your cupcakes when cooled - using a frosting knife to pull up on the frosting, making waves.
Step 3: Squeeze a gummy bear into a gummi lifesaver and voila! You have the cutest little mini cupcakes ever.

Not a bad end of summer treat, right?

I brought these in to work (as I do with all sweet treats) and they were a big hit!

How are you celebrating the end of summer?
If you make these, be sure to Instagram them and tag me (@lpodlich) so I can see your awesome handywork!

Horizontal striped chambray y'all, it's what's good for fall.

Anyone else diggin' Taylor Swift's new song? I don't really love her that much, but this song is SO dang catchy!

Hurray for accidental patriotism!

This weekend was a wedding weekend in Minnesota- Michael was the Best Man, and my GOODNESS did he look good!
We got the chance to see a ton of friends- and of course snapped an Ellen selfie with a few of them:

Enough of the past, let's look forward, shall we?
Tomorrow's recipe is a sendoff to summer...it's a pretty delicious one too.

How was your Labor Day weekend?
Anyone else have a wedding to go to? (I expect to see pictures on Instagram if you did!)
