best tips: how to de-stinkify your summer shoes!

Alright people, it's time to get real.
Summer is ending, and if you're like me- you're still probably wearing your flats until the snow flies.
Also if you're like me- after wearing those babies all through hot summer days...they probably don't smell great. Never fear, some de-stinkifying tips are here!
Oh I know, it'd be so much more glamorous if I just did another blog post about flowers or handbags or something- but, well, I'm sure you guys read plenty of those every week, right?
So here's the deal:
Unless you never walk/move in the summer heat, I KNOW you know what I'm talking about.
I tried a few at-home techniques I've heard about, and here are the results!
THE DRYER SHEETS:
I'm not going to lie- this probably worked the best...but it also meant I walked around self conscious that my feet smelled like a fresh load of laundry! Overall, this method definitely worked the best, as long as you're cool with a fresh-out-of-the-dryer scent.

THE BAKING SODA:
I mean, we all have a box in our fridge to eliminate odors, right? I sprinkled a bunch into some flats and I have to say- the next morning- serious improvement. I tried it again in another pair, leaving the baking soda in for 3 days- and they were fully de-stinkified! I mean, I'm sure you don't want to throw white powder in any super expensive flats- but for your cheap gap/target/old navy guys? This'll do the trick!

THE TEA BAGS:
I had heard these pulled out odors from...somewhere? I dunno, the internet is too big of a place to remember these crucial details. Anyway, The teabags: I left them in there for 3 days- and NOTHIN'. No help. Still as stinky as ever. Wompp-womppp. Verdict; This method is a no-go.

So there you have it:
three-er-two ways to use products you have laying around the house to make your shoes smell better!

Do you have any at home remedies you can share?
I'd love to test them out!

xo, lp

  3. Ha! I love this post. I find that wearing a new pair of shoes everyday helps air the previous pair out. Otherwise baby powder works too.
