Friday's Fancies #74: Black Friday Fashion

Well, I won't be Black Friday shopping this year, because:
1. I'll be at work.
2. Crowds of middle-aged women fighting for KitchenAid mixers terrify me.

If I waaaaaas, this is what I'd be wearing to get my game face on:

Obviously a black theme is in order, including black skinnies, black ankle boots, and a black polka dot scarf.
To get in the right mindset, chug some coffee in this boss coffee mug! And to assure you can stuff as many things away as possibly, bring along a big Madewell Transport Tote!
Finally, a cozy sweater and some nice mittens will keep you warm waiting in line for that 50% off item, right?

Are you shopping on Black Friday?
If so- what are you shopping for?

Friday's Fancies #65: Tanked

This week's Friday's Fancies theme was a no-brainer. I mean, create an outfit around a great summer tank?
Done and done.

I centered this outfit around the most perfect minty Madewell dot tank... see below for more details:
Tank: this lightweight minty Madewell tank is the perfect summer top!
Jeans: Light. Stretchy. Comfy. Perfect for lounging on a picnic blanket.
Shoes: Best shoes at Gap this summer. Love the laser cut look!
Necklace: Simple spiked chevron- under $6!
Sunnies: Tortoise is always best- and under $25 makes these a no-brainer.
Bracelet: Per usual, well done j.crew.
Purse: Perfect neon pop!

Where do you find your great summer pieces?
Share away, friends!

MADE TO PERFECTION

Remind me again WHY I live in a town without a Madewell?

When I got the email about Madewell's new arrivals the other day I couldn't pick just one favorite item. So, like a true hoarder I've collected a grouping of my top 15. Yes, 15. I couldn't narrow down. Oops.

Here they are!
1. Perfect Patterned Pouches: In order of awesomeness: chambray dots, nautical stripes, and fruity fresh.

2. Light & Lovely Tanks: I can't put these in order of awesomeness. I just need one of each. Minty dots, black & floral, and bold cobalt.

3. Simple & Sleeveless: Basic, sleeveless tops are necessary for summer so you can just grab one & go, knowing it'll match whatever you have on. Get bright coral, light chambray, or basic white to go with a great summer tan!

4. Textured Tops: Okay, so I lied and only 2 have texture, but the first floral-y pattern one has enough going on that it doesn't need anything else to it! Love the ladylike eyelet and the fluorescent lace number too.

5. I have a tan/camel bag that I bring everywhere in the summer. It's a little beat up and these three bags are on my watch list. Basic brown, stripes, and colorful blue are all lookin' good.

Which of the Madewell new arrivals are you going to make your own?

Friday's Fancies #61: Easy Weekend Wear

The Friday's Fancies theme this week was Easy Weekend Wear-and it was definitely easy to come up with an outfit for it! This is what my weekend wear looks like:

This charcoal dress from TopShop (only $45!) is one you NEED in your closet. Everyone should have a few pieces that are so easy to wear and versatile that if you're in a rush to get ready you can just throw it on and now it'll work with whatever occasion you've got. This one is casual enough to run out to the farmer's market in sandals or dressy enough to pair with sparkly jewels, tights, and some black pumps!

For easy weekend wear, I'd wear it with some simple black flats (Gap), the most perfect Transport Tote (Madewell), and a few basic bracelets in gold (Gorjana) and white enamel (J.crew). Oh, and since I'm never without a necklace, why not layer two BaubleBar beauties? Love this gold nameplate one and teal teardrop beauty!

What does your easy weekend wear look like?
If you like this dress but are looking for a sleeveless option, this one from Old Navy is super comfy!

Friday's Fancies #58: Dots Done Right

I started writing this post and realized I sounded like a complete fool babbling about polka dots.
Some people write deep, emotional, personal blog posts- and I'm legit talking about the fact that I like polka dots. ::sigh::

Welp, might as well run with it, right? Maybe you'll get a powerful tear-jerking post soon...but no promises.
-------

So here goes. Polka dots people.
I like 'em. Feminine without being overly prissy. Easy to wear pattern.

Madewell always has an array of cheery dots, and these are some of my favorites at the moment:

As you can see above I love me some polka dotted chambray- and this one is perfect for layering or wearing on it's own. Since I already have one of those guys, this minty subtle dotty button-down is next on my list!
Speaking of mint dots- these Keds kick ass. Everyone and their mother has a collaboration with Keds, and I love every single one of them. I've DIY-decorated my fair share of shoes and I might make these next...
Finally- the black and white polka dot. If you can't figure out pattern mixing- this stripes & dots shirt does it all for you. Boom. And if you're a purist- this linen racerback will layer well in spring and stand all alone in summer.

Anyone else writing shallow posts about patterns lately?
Share 'em. Or, tell me what your weekend plans are. Eiiiither way.

Friday's Fancies #55: Lovely Lace

FRIDAY I LOVE YOU.
I'm so happy it's Friday I'm not even going to complain about my dentist appointment today. Even though I really want to. Really really want to.

{av} wanted to have this Friday be all about lace, so here we go friends:

Putting this outfit together makes me laugh, because it is going to be MONTHS until I could wear this in Wisconsin. A girl can dream, right?

This bright lace skirt from TopShop pairs perfectly with a toned down chambray.
Oh, and the necklace? JUST like the J.Crew one we all know and love but a third of the price! Add on some blue BaubleBar cushion studs, a green ostrich wallet, and polka dot flats and you're set for a warm spring day.

Man, if someone wants to free me from my boots and down coat anytime soon, that'd be lovely. Bring on the warm weather so I can wear this, okay?

What's the weather look like for you this weekend?
If it's warm enough to wear the outfit above: please invite me over.

HOLIDAY MOOLA? (new year's finest)

Oh heyyyyyyyyyy.
Have you guys been around the blog world lately? I sure have not been. Oops.
I can't even blame being away, I've been back at work since the day after Christmas, but I've been too lazy to post. That's the truth, folks.
-------
Now, I am guessing a few of you out there got some gift cards or good old fashioned cash for a holiday gift, right? Sure you did. Here are a few fun ideas for what to do with that moola- whether you decide to get a few small gifts & save the rest...or just go right ahead and splurge! For FF this week I thought it might be fun to do New Year's finest accessories rather than an outfit! Here are my picks:

SAVE:
1. These ASOS mittens are straight up adorable, and for $12, you can wave 'em at everyone you know.
2. For me, the washi tape will never say die. I am obsessed with these Madewell ones, and for a measly $4 a pop, you can grab a handful of them without making a dent in your Christmas cash.
3. Everyone loves gold polka dots right now, and what better way to display them..but with  a $17 bangle?
4. Everyone knows the Target+Neiman Marcus collaboration failed. BUT that just means the best thing from the collection, these Marc Jacobs pouches, are now under $35. YEAH. So for you name brand ladies on a budget, scoop one of these up stat!
5. How hilarious is this old school phone handset? Michael got one of these for xmas and it rocks.

SPLURGE:
1. GAH. New Kate Spade watches kill me. Go navy for class and pink for spunk.
2. These Brandy Pham for BaubleBar rings are perfect for stacking or bright enough to make a statement on their own, and at $68, they're not toooo much of a splurge!
3. J.crew. Green. Bag. Must. Hug.
4. Now why is a $24 item in the splurge section? Because for me $24 is a ridiculous amount to pay for lipstick...sorry folks. However with a little extra holiday cash, I think this perfect NARS color be a little more justifiable.
5. Oh Kate Spade idiom necklace, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Tons of colors, $58. PLUS they're reversible with a witty Kate Spade phrase on the back!

What would you grab from each of these groups?
Washi tape and Kate Spade Idiom necklace for me, please.

MAD FOR MADEWELL

True life: I had never heard of Madewell until I started blogging. So...less than a year, folks.
To be fair, we don't have them in Minnesota or Wisconsin, so that counts for something, right?

Anyways, since I'm a Madewell newb, everything they have right now seems to be shiny and wonderful and lovely. Here are a few of my favorites:
* Mustard is everywhere this fall. These Golden Ochre Film Noir Pumps kinda kill it.
*Simplicity is best :  Provence Blue Gypsystone Earrings.
*Gorgeous blue- I know you frenchy loving bloggers need this Parisienne Storyteller Scarf!
* Perfect fall bag: The Leather Transport Tote. End of story.
  * Lovely, lovely leopard. Gimme these Sidewalk Skimmers in Leopard Print. Now.
* Dark jeans + grey tee + pop of color in the form of a Skinny Mint Patent Belt
*Lady like and sparkly:  Mini Bow Studs
* Face it, the world is chambray obsessed- perfect summer to fall transition: Chambray Sleeveless Top
* Why do I love everything cobalt? Cobalt Suede Camden Bag
 * How sassy & sweet are these Polka Dot Film Noir Pumps ?
 * Delicate perfection: Tree Twig Necklace.

Which Madewell items had you at hello?
Need. That. Leather. Tote. Now.
