55 DEGREES? THAT'S SHORTS WEATHER!

Oh geez.
Do you ever have one of those weekends that REALLY feels like a weekend? You weren't rushed, or working from home. You weren't too busy or bogged down with chores. Come Sunday night you feel refreshed and ready for the week ahead.

That was this weekend for me. It was the perfect balance of time with friends, family, and Michael. I even went to the gym twice. Boom. Champion.

Here's what's been up lately:

Word on the street is the weather is going to turn nasty again, so I'm getting in springy clothes while I can!

I came home from work the other day and Michael had gotten home early and cleaned the apartment & bought a bouquet of gorgeous flowers. He's a keeper, folks:

This weekend we did one of my favorite things: blow up the air mattress and put it in the living room with all of our blankets. Saturday night we watched a movie and Sunday afternoon we took cat naps and watched some hockey. Best. Idea. Ever.

In Michael's cleaning escapade he cleaned off our coffee table, which is usually overly cluttered with mail, books, cups, and other random things. I took the time to put out some of my favorite items to spruce it up. I give it about 2 days to stay this nice looking...

Sunday was GORGEOUS. We decided to walk around downtown Madison and a local tea shop had this sign outside:

It's true! There were people wearing shorts!
We also walked around UW Madison campus (where we met-cue the "awww!")- and man I appreciate how gorgeous the buildings are so much more now that I'm not racing to class.

Finally, we had dinner at a restaurant I used to work at off the capitol square...and took the obligatory iPhone panorama of the empty square!

How was your weekend?
If you didn't camp out in your living room, I highly recommend it!

WHAT TO DO ON A GREY SATURDAY

A few weekends ago my parents were in town, and it was cold.
I mean...COLD.
Rather than sit inside all weekend, we decided to be good old hearty Midwesterners and bundle up to enjoy the rest of fall. Madison has the most amazing farmer's market each Saturday, and the grey skies just made all the produce look that much more beautiful. I have to admit, I actually prefer to go to the market when it's cold or a little rainy. Why? Well then the moms with the unnecessarily large strollers (which I call Escalade strollers) stay home, for fear their pampered baby may get a chill...thus not blocking the entire walkway as they gossip with their girlfriends. Score.

Oh, and we made sure to get LOTS of things, my favorites being cranberry orange scones, leeks, 2 kinds of cheeses, chipotle popcorn, and cherry jam.

Anyone else love farmer's markets too?
Especially on chilly fall days, sans Escalade strollers?

WE LUV IT COLD (yeah, right)

Happy Monday!

As I mentioned last week, some of my favorite people were in town this weekend: my parents! We were supposed to go camping but it was a little over 20 degrees at night, and grey/windy during the day. Miserable. Instead we spent our time enjoying some classic Madison things, including the lovely Madison Saturday Farmer's Market. As you can see, we were pretty bundled up:
(find me on instagram here)

Of course, in true Wisconsin fashion, even when it's cold people are outside enjoying what they can about fall. This sign just says it all:

A few good outfits of last week:
#1: pattern scarf (similar here) // burgundy sweater (similar here) // white skinnies // sueded wedges
#2: stripe sweater  // dark skinny jeans  // green suede flats
#3:open stitch sweater (similar here)  // rockstar cords  // grey suede flats (similar here)

On a completely unrelated note, if anyone feels like throwin' a few hundred dollars my way, I'd be totally cool with that. This herringbone bag is my definition of pure perfection. It's down to $412 from $700...so if you feel like sending some love my way in the form of herringbone heaven, email me. (#butseriously).

I've got a great recipe to share on the blog tomorrow...so don't make dinner plans, you'll want to have this:

How was your weekend, friends?
Anyone hit temperatures above 45? We sure didn't.
