LIFE LATELY: I'M BAAAAAAAAAAACK

Oy. Worst blogger award goes to....ME. Partially for ignoring you all for a while, partially for missing my own blogiversary. OOPS. How have I been blogging for 4 years? I'll get a nostalgic post up on here soon about the last 4 years (blah blah blah) but for now, here's what I've been up to:
-------------

1. Fall camping! Last weekend Michael and I went up to camp in Door County, and then went to the Packers vs Rams game at Lambeau. Camping was ridiculously awesome, and the game was just as great. If you're headed to Door County in the near future and are looking for recommendations, shoot me an email (beautyandbeard (at) gmail (dot) com)- I'd love to send some ideas your way!

2. Sparkly Jewels: I've still got my Rocksbox subscription going on- and it has been awesome to see how many of you have been trying it out as well. (For free with code beautyandbeardxoxo!). If you still have questions, I'm always happy to answer how the service works- there's no need to feel dumb to ask- I'm a little wary of subscription services myself, so I totally don't blame you. Just shoot an email to the address mentioned above! If you are ready to try your first month FO FREE, just go to rocksbox.com and use code "beautyandbeardxoxo"

3. #LPWallCrawl: I love following Studio DIY on her wall crawl series, so I decided to start my own series on Instagram-- follow along here: #LPWallCrawl

4. The Shopbop Friends & Family sale is my JAM. Shopbop rarely does sales, and this one only comes around twice a year. 25% off almost everything! Winning.

5. Four Fall Recipes: Fall means it's time for some recipes that make you feel extra cozy and warm. Some of my favorite repeats are: Ranch Pumpkin Seeds // Quinoa Stuffed Red Peppers // Aged White Cheddar Mac & Cheese // Spicy Red Pepper Pasta

What has been new with you my dears?
Tell me what's been going on!

FALL FLOWERS.

Happy Monday you wonderful people!

I know sometimes my Monday recaps can be pretty chatty- but this week I'll keep it short & sweet with 4 fabulous things:

1.  Every year I make this Cranberry Apple Galette about twice- and this weekend was one of those times. We had a fabulous Friendsgiving dinner and this treat, per usual, got rave reviews!

2. Fall flowers man. I dig 'em.

3. AHHH. Is anyone else obsessing over the Faribault Woolen Mills items at Target? I CAN'T DECIDE WHAT TO GET. The throws? The zip pouches? The most affordable, quality items Target has had in a while. LOVE.

4. This week's recipe is a major favorite. I actually made it a while back and forgot to post about it- get ready- it is SUPER healthy, but SUPER delicious.

Alright, has anyone bought anything from the Faribault for Target collection?
If you have, you've got to tell me what you bought!!

FLANNEL + LEAVES + THE BEST PUMPKINS EVER

Oh my friends, isn't Fall amazing?
Here in Wisconsin we often complain that Fall is too short- because the snow flies before we can blink.
But this year- THIS YEAR we've gotten a full enjoyable fall. The weather has been unbelievable. Sunny. Crisp Air, Colorful leaves.

Here's what's good in around here relating to Fall (via Instagram)
----

I'm not gonna lie, this isn't even all of the flannel shirts I own. Yup.

The LEAVES! Did I mention the leaves?? Can't. Get. Enough.

This year's pumpkin seeds? 4 cheese, Ranch, and Spicy Garlic. My favorite was Spicy Garlic. Soooo good!

My pride and joy this year are these emoji pumpkins. Yup. They're like my kids or somethin'.

Saturday was a perfect day for a football game! So weird being an Alumni sitting in real seats- not the Student Section for Badger Homecoming!

Everybody and their mother is wearing plaid blanket scarves this season- and other than the Zara one, this is by FAR the best! AND it's under $50. Sold.

Okay- tell me how YOU'VE been celebrating fall!
If you've carved or painted some awesome pumpkins & shared them on Instagram- leave your insta handle so I can check them out!

4 SWEET & SALTY SNACKS FOR FALL

You're probably sick of me telling you that Fall is my favorite season.
I really don't care.
Sorry.
I mean.
Fall is so short in the Midwest, that I think gushing about it for a few goods weeks is fair, right?

Here are my 4 favorite fall treats- 2 sweet, 2 salty:

Healthy, Sweet. No sugar added. You're welcome:

This is a snack. And a breakfast. And a dessert. It's THAT good.

I eat popcorn pretty much daily, and this is hands down my favorite recipe.

NO not sweet like a PSL- I mean spices like paprika, cayenne, and garlic powder. Mmm-mm.

What are your favorite Fall snacks?

FALL 2014 MUST-HAVE BAGS

Oh Fall.
I love you something fierce.

Every fall I always gravitate towards buying 3 things: scarves, riding boots, and a great bag.
Here are the top 12 that have caught my eye...

1. CAMBRIDGE SATCHEL: Ooooh these bags. I can't decide whether to love the saddle or the oxblood more...

2.  LOEFFLER RANDALL: These bags made the must-have list because I am absolutely in love with the envelope shape. And that black + black clasps? Beyond sophisticated.

3. REBECCA MINKOFF: The Amorous Satchel made this list because it has some seriously excellent fall color options. Charcoal + Black Cherry + Petrol? One of each, please.

4. FOLEY + CORINNA: The size & shape of the Frame Satchel is exactly perfect for stashing a scarf if the weather gets cool. I'll take that Whiskey colored one in a heartbeat!

Now I want to hear from YOU!
Which of these excellent bags would you love for Fall?
The Foley + Corinna in Whiskey is definitely at the top of my list.

Friday's Fancies #73: Not just for Lumberjacks

I love me some plaid.
This week's FF was dedicated to the pattern, and I couldn't pass up highlighting some of my favorite ways to wear the best fall accessory: plaid scarves!

 1. black & white: who says plaid can't look dressy? pair this banana republic b&w scarf with a cashmere sweater and you're good to go!

2. mix & match: pattern mixing isn't going anywhere for a while, so pair a striped top with this cheery red plaid!

3. nice & neutral: if you want plaid toned down, go for a neutral look, mixing a grey sweater & a khaki plaid scarf.

4. bright & bold: if you're ready to scream PLAID! from the rooftops, pair this super soft gap pink scarf with a bright red sweater!

Which of these 4 ways do you wear your plaid?
Mix & Match for me all the way!

FALL FOODS from B&B

Oooooh it is time for Fall Food.
Warm soups, piping hot cider, and apple everything!

Here are some of my favorite, perfect for fall recipes. Tried and true by...well... me.
1. Baked Apple Chips: Apples are errrywhere in fall, which means it's time to stock up and make an abundance of baked apple chips! Easy, healthy, & delicious.
2. PUMPKIN SEEDS!!!: Pumpkin seeds are the best part of fall. Screw the cornsyrup-laden PSL, go for crunchy, tasty spiced pumpkin seeds. Nom.
3. Salted Caramel Sauce: I mean, you can pretty much put this stuff all over everything. Or by itself. Mmm.
4. Oven Roasted Tomato Pesto Crostini: Hopefully the title sounded good enough to entice you! It's one of my go-to fall appetizers!
5. Herb Parmesan Crisps: Since it's soup weather now, this easy recipe is a must-have for the fall. They add a little extra salty, crunchy kick to your favorite soup.
6. Veggie Pesto Soup: It's the kind of delicious soup that vegetarians and meat eaters alike can enjoy. Hot, hearty, and healthy!

What food do you look forward to in fall?

WE LUV IT COLD (yeah, right)

Happy Monday!

As I mentioned last week, some of my favorite people were in town this weekend: my parents! We were supposed to go camping but it was a little over 20 degrees at night, and grey/windy during the day. Miserable. Instead we spent our time enjoying some classic Madison things, including the lovely Madison Saturday Farmer's Market. As you can see, we were pretty bundled up:
(find me on instagram here)

Of course, in true Wisconsin fashion, even when it's cold people are outside enjoying what they can about fall. This sign just says it all:

-------------------------------------
A few good outfits of last week:
#1: pattern scarf (similar here) // burgundy sweater (similar here) // white skinnies // sueded wedges
#2: stripe sweater  // dark skinny jeans  // green suede flats
#3:open stitch sweater (similar here)  // rockstar cords  // grey suede flats (similar here)

----------------
On a completely unrelated note, if anyone feels like throwin' a few hundred dollars my way, I'd be totally cool with that. This herringbone bag is my definition of pure perfection. It's down to $412 from $700...so if you feel like sending some love my way in the form of herringbone heaven, email me. (#butseriously).
-------------------------------
I've got a great recipe to share on the blog tomorrow...so don't make dinner plans, you'll want to have this:

How was your weekend, friends?
Anyone hit temperatures above 45? We sure didn't.
